Born on July 11th 1953, Josef
Maier received his amateur licence in 1979. He is a farmer and
has two sisters and five brothers, three of them also involved
in the horses world. Before devoting himself completely to
horses, Josef studied veterinary medicine, but, because of his
engagements in the horse sport activities, he did not finish
his studies.
Until 1993 he had a licence for show jumping and was very
successful in that sport. In 1979 Meier entered in the trot
world. Josef, called “Sepp”, Maier won 145 races, 142 in
Austria and 3 in foreign countries: one in Beaumont de Lomagne
(France), one in Prague and one at the European Championship
2005 with Ranger Apache in Duindigt (The Netherlands). In
Paris-Vincennes he was second with Sky Skipper.
Austrian Champion in 2004.
In 2005 he started in the European Championship for the first
time, reaching an excellent 4th place. After an
interval of 13 years, he started in Karlsruhe (Germany) at the
European Championship for “Oldies” in show jumping, winning an
important competition against about 80 participants. His
hobbies are: horses, horses, horses… no time for other
pleasure!
Josef Maier, breeder of two Derbywinners and now owner of
about 60 trotters has a target for the World Championship: to
step on the podium!

In 2005 he started in the European Championship
for the first time, reaching an excellent 4th
