New job for our president!
Upon our visit to the mayor of Mönchengladbach our
president Claës Ljung said that he was running for a
mayor ship in his home constituency, Falkenberg and
might become a colleague to our host. Elections were
held in Sweden in September and our president was the
first name in the conservative party and group leader in
the municipal council. The office of being a mayor had
to wait a little longer, but on December 16th he was
nominated mayor. With his experience from working with
FEGAT since 1978 he has a wide experience in
international work and will stress on widened
international relations in his new job. Claës has an
invitation to us all; when visiting southern Sweden he
will be happy to show the Falkenberg municipality to
FEGAT members – just contact him in good time before!
Elections was also held for the Halland region (county)
where Claës lives. He was nominated county councillor
and will work in an organization responsible for
hospitals, infra structure, schools and hunting matters
(!) in the region.
Claës assures you that the new missions he has been
given will not have any negative influence on his work
for the FEGAT! His common law wife Agnes will take over
more responsibility for their tourism company and as
Claës says: “There are 24 hours in a day and I can sleep
if I get old!”
European Championship for men and General Assembly
2011
The championships will be held in Mallorca, Spain in
April. We are still waiting for information – but we
sincerely hope to have necessary information before this
year ends! There is a lot of preparation to be done also
inside the FEGAT and the FEGAT board will meet in
February to take final decisions and steps of
preparation in accordance with this event.
World Championship 2012
The world championship will be held in New Zealand. We
are happy on behalf of NZ – hosting this event has
helped them a lot to get respect for the amateur sport
inside harness racing in their country. Participants
will be the six (eventually more) first placed in the EC
held in Spain. The FEGAT board are working with the
possibility to have South Africa and Argentine as
participants and we hope to widen the sphere of
countries participating.
