Miquel Vich Capó, Spain
Miquel works at the Son Pardo race track. During the Spanish meeting he also does interviews for the French equine television channel Equidia TV. He lives in Palma de Mallorca.

Stephen Oldford, USA
Steve Oldford is President and owner of Oldford and Associates, providing sales and engineering services to companies supplying the automotive industry. He is a graduate of Western Michigan University with a achelor’s degree in business administration. Oldford has been involved in the industry for more than 40 years as a breeder, owner, driver, and trainer.
He is very active as an amateur driver, winning the CKG Billings point championship four times since 2008 and the Gold Cup final in 2010. He is also a three time winner of the Harness Racing Museum and Hall of Fame amateur driver of the year while also serving as a trustee and the museums Vice President.
Steve is the 2013 United States Harness Writers Association amateur driver of the year. He is also President of the Great Lakes Amateur Driving Association, Vice President of the CKG Billings Harness Driving Club, and Vice President of the Harness Racing Hall of Fame and Museum.
Oldford and his wife of 31 years, Gale, live on their horse farm near Croswell, Michigan and raise and train Standardbreds. They have three adult children.

Janne Räisänen, Finland
Finnish Janne Räisänen won the Finnish championship in 2012 and he placed fourth in the European championship competition in Russia last year. He has followed his uncle Leo “Leukki” Räisänen’s footsteps to horse racing and has now been one of the main names in Finnish amateur driving for years.

Wim Brouwer, The Netherlands
Harness racing runs in the Brouwer family: also Wim’s father was a passionate horse enthusiast.
Wim has been the chairman of the Dutch Amateur Club since 2013. Also his wife Susan and two sons Danny and Micha are enthusiastic horse people: Susan has an amateur license as well, and their sons Danny and Micha drive in pony races.

Joey Vignoni, Switzerland
The youngest driver of this competition comes from Switzerland. Only 22-year-old Joey Vignoni is nevertheless an experienced driver and has already represented Switzerland in international races as well. The latest international race was the amateur race in Vincennes, France during the Prix d’Amerique meeting, where he placed second. Horses take most of his free time, but every now and then he enjoys going to the gym and playing tennis.

Jeff Darby, New Zealand
Jeff travels the longest way to Finland, all the way from New Zealand. He says that the best aspect of amateur driving is the common passion that everyone has for this fantastic sport.
His other hobbies include e.g. mountain biking. He is married and has three children; thirteen-, ten- and eight-year-old sons Harrison, Nathan and Mitchell.

Piet van Pollaert, Belgium
31-year-old Piet works in a family business. He is an experienced equestrian: he started riding at young age and competed in show jumping until 16 years of age before switching to trotting. He was the apprentice driver of the year in Belgium in 2004. Piet is following in his father’s footsteps, as he won the world championship in 2000 and European Championship in 2001. The family owns 18 horses.

Bjarke Haagensen, Denmark
Bjarke is a very experienced driver, both in national and international races. He has represented Denmark in several international races in Nordic, European and world championship races. He visits Sweden, Norway and Germany quite often:
He has been awarded as the race track champion (most victories during one year) altogether four times in Nyköping and Charlottenlund race tracks. He has ten horses at the moment. Bjarke is married and has two sons, ages 12 and 8.

Maurizio Biasuzzi, Italy
Maurizio is one of the most experienced and also most successful drivers in the race.
He is an entrepreneur by profession. Horses bred in his stable and named after “Bi” are well-known also in Finland.
He owns a stud farm of 40 mares in Italy and 20 mares in USA. The stable also has race horses, 24 of them train in Italy, four in Sweden, two in France and two in the US.
Just to name a few favorite horses, he picks the two-time Elitloppet winner Timothy T, 4-year-old European champion Unire, Hambletonian winner Jean Bi, world champion Equinox Bi and stallion Manofmanymissions, who’s currently standing in the US.

Jörg Hafer, Germany
Jörg Hafer is the most successful gentleman driver in Germany at the moment. He was the German Champion 2003, 2012 and 2013. In 2014 he is in the lead with good chances to defend his title. Jörg Hafer is insurance broker by profession and has had an amateur license since 1988. At the moment he owns 2 horses.
He participated in the World Championship competition in Belgium 2004. He is a descendant of a family who has owned trotters for years. His father was also a successful driver, and his brother and sister are involved in the trotting sport as well.

Ivan Serik, Russia
Ivan was born in 1964 in Belarus. He is an aviation engineer. He placed fourth in F.E.G.A.T. European championship competition in Spain 2011 and represented Russia in the Europa Cup in Hungary in 2012.

Sándor Hegedüs, Hungary
Sándor has his own company and works in construction business. Horses and equestrian sport are a lifestyle and great passion for him as they are for other competitors as well. He has travelled all over the world to participate in various horse races, for example in New York, Mallorca, Wien, Malmö and Serbia.
Currently he has three horses in his own stable, one of which is a Love You foal and the two others represent a Hungarian horse breed. He lives nearby Budapest, the capital of Hungary, in a town called Nagytarcsa with his wife and two daughters.

FEGAT has received positive answers from Australia, New Zealand and USA. As for Canada we have not been able to get a confirmation about participation yet, they have an interested driver but unfortunately this driver cannot as for today prove 25 wins. Also South Africa has shown interest but they have the same problem - the number of wins. However, they have asked if it will be possible to organise the championship there in 2018 (2016 is booked for Hungary).

FEGAT will be represented in the championship by our president Mr. Claës L. Ljung and our second vice president Ms Olga Bondar from Ukraine. Our first vice president Sabine Klettenhofer can not represent as her work is in a very intense period in July.
Also all other FEGAT counties are welcomed to watch the races and chear up the drivers.
Finland amateurs and owners association will pay 18.000 euro (sponsor money) extra to increase the purses in the nine amateur races.
Then we will have nine good quality races and with each driver racing 9 times.

For those who want to come to Finland already on Friday or (earlier), we will arrange hotel in Lahti. It's easy to come to Lahti from the airport by public bus (takes about 1 hour). We have negotiated special price for you to stay in hotel Cumulus. Those who pick this extra program will get VIP. tickets to big Suur-Hollola race weekend at half price. We as organizers try our best to keep you happy and will organize for example possibility to visit the nice tack shops of Wahlsten and Finntack in Lahti. All horse products can be bought with special prices!

All other meals, transportation on your own expense. We will help to organize transport by taxi, bus etc. Also return to the hotel in Espoo on Sunday after the races.
P.S.
If you will take with you some cheer-up group people who doesn't want to participate to our official programme. Please contact early enough to get hotel rooms with negotiated price. There is a possibility to participate to first evening dinner and last evening banquet only (plus hotel). For cheer up groups we cannot offer bus transportation. You must travel on your own to different race tracks by renting car or using for example taxi or train. We will give you cheaper price if you will use this option! But remember every country must send driver plus official (min. 2 persons) to participate in the official program.
