Gavin has
been actively involved in harness racing for the past 30 years
and with the introduction of Amateur Driving into New Zealand in
2003 the opportunity came to increase his involvement.
This opportunity
coincided nicely with the sale of his chain of pizza stores,
which allowed him to pursue his passion of breeding, training
and driving harness horses from his 30acre farm in Christchurch.
Gavin was the
inaugural Canterbury champion in 2004 and the New Zealand
champion in 2007. He also works actively at the administrative
level being the past President of CADA and also a board member
of NZADA plus also organizing and running the Amateur Drivers
training courses conducted in his home region.
Rounding out his
experience has been two goodwill driving trips. In 2005 it was
racing in Washington and New York. Then in 2006 it was off to
Wales where he drove his first two international winners.
