John Kriechbaumer
born in Austria, Linz and immigrated to New
Zealand in 1975. He currently owns and
operates a manufacturing and maintenance
engineering company known as Continental
Engineering. Many in the industry will
remember the Continental brand racing sulky
within New Zealand and Australia, as its one
of their many products. Early interest in
harness racing stemmed from syndicate
involvement before taking out a trainers
license in 1991. John also became a holder
of an amateur driver’s license in 2003.
John has been part of the harness racing
industry for the past 20 years and had
moderate training and breeding success along
the way. In 2005 John competed in the NZ vs.
USA challenge; which he drove a winner at
the Red Mile in Kentucky, Delaware in Ohio
(Little Brown Jug), and Hazel Park in
Michigan.
Currently John is the 2010 New Zealand
National Amateur Drivers Champion. John
believes amateur driving is great concept,
as you get to meet people and have some fun
along the way!
John travels to France with his wife Rita
and daughter Cindy.
