Berit Tveter
Alm
comes from a family with pure horse-blood in the venes! Her parents
were true fans of harness racing and always kept a lot of horses on
their farm. Berit started to train horses when she was very young
and started racing locally without tote at the age of 14. She
drove her first FEGAT-race in Italy already in 1978.

During her career so
far she has won well over 500 victories! She has been
Norwegian champion in different classes 9 times, European
Champion 1 time and is still racing every week when at home.
Berit entered the FEGAT committee in 1993 as vice
president. When she was elected she was the first woman ever to
sit in the FEGAT committee! She has taken care of the womens
side of the sport and she has also been a creative and helpful
member of our committee.
Always Norway has been willing to organize championships under the
FEGAT flag. And when they have organized, Berit has been a very
active part of the local organization committee and a link between
the Norwegian organizer and FEGAT!
On the FEGAT general assembly 2010 Berit was unanimously elected an
honorary member of the FEGAT. She was honoured and given the sign
when the ladies European championship was held in Harstad, Norway in
June 2010. In her speach thanking FEGAT she expressed a wish that
there soon will be a woman in the committee again!
